Advantages of Stucco Siding
If you’re in the market for new siding, then you’ve probably done some research on different siding materials. One of the best options is stucco. What exactly is stucco siding, and how can you benefit from it? As the local expert on siding and restoration services, we’re here to inform you about the features and benefits of stucco siding.

How It’s Made
Stucco is a siding material made of Portland cement, sand, lime and water. Traditionally, stucco siding was installed over a wire mesh or a wood lath. Traditional stucco has an expansive acrylic-polymer finish, which can expand and contract depending on the weather. This keeps the cracks from developing. Stucco siding has a lifespan of around 50 years, making it one of the longest-lasting siding materials available.
A new type of stucco was recently developed, called Exterior Insulation and Finish (EIFS). To manufacture EIFS, an acrylic-polymer coat of Styrofoam-based stucco is sprayed onto a fiberglass mesh base and foam board insulation. This type of material virtually never cracks and provides extra insulation for your home. For more information, just ask your local siding and roof repair contractor.
What Are the Advantages of Stucco Siding?
Stucco siding is affordable and low maintenance. It also provides great insulation, making your home more energy efficient and helping reduce your monthly energy bills. Stucco has a distinct aesthetic, giving your home a traditional southwestern look. It can be customized to your liking via cement coatings, artistic designs carved onto the surface or even painting a mural over it.
